The Olympic Equestrian Venue locates in Hong Kong for the 2008 Summer Olympics. There are two venues for the equestrian events of the 2008 Olympic Games.
The jumping and dressage events will take place at the Shatin Olympic Equestrian Venue which is a 278,000 square meter all-weather sand arena, with a capacity for 18,000 spectators. It is converted from Hong Kong Sports Institute and the Sha Tin Racecourse.
The cross country test of the eventing competition will take place at the Beas River Olympic Equestrian Venue which was converted from the Beas River Country Club and the Hong Kong Golf Club. It includes a 5.7km temporary cross country track which is 10 meters in width.
The Hong Kong Equestrian Center is the first and only equestrian venue to enable an air conditioning system in its practice quarters. The venue pays great attention to environmental protection. Leftover food and horse waste are moved daily through special channels to be turned into fertilizer at a special treatment plant.
