The Capital Indoor Stadium is an indoor arena in Haidian District, Beijing, China. The venue was built in 1968 and was renovated in 2001 to become a venue for the World University Games. The Stadium was once chosen as volleyball venues for the 1990 Asian Games as well as venue for World Cup figure-skating.
It underwent a renovation and expansion that was completed in late 2007 for the 2008 Summer Olympics, where it will host the volleyball events. The outside look is kept and the inside facilities are renovated. It has a capacity of 18,000 and a floor space of 54,707 square meters expanded from the old 53,000. With energy-saving tenologies aplied to the renovation, the Capital Indoor Stadium is designated as an energy-friendly venue.
